I took my first time trip to Vegas for a business meeting yesterday. The strip was cool, took lots of cool pics, and had a pretty good time. As I was going through security at the Vegas airport for my flight home, I noticed a guy off in the distance that looked alot like Sammy Hagar. So being the HUGE Van Hallen/Sammy fan that I am I waited until he got a little closer and then it hit me. POW! IT IS SAMMY HAGAR! So I waited patiently (Sammy was in the crawl up your @ss with a flashlight line with his wife at the securtiy checkpoint) I had hoped that he wouldn't be too pissed off by the time he came out. So anyways he finally made it out and I got up the nerve to talk to him. Man was I nervous, but Sammy was WAY COOL! I called over to him and introduced myself, we shook hands and I asked for an autograph. He was very cool and signed a $10 bill for me. I then asked if I could get my picture with him and he said it would be no problem but we had to hurry because Vegas security had held him up like a mother f---er! We chuckled together and I had a co-worker snap a pic (the top of my head got cut off a little, I look like crap from lack of sleep, and I also look like a deer in headlights, but I don't care LOL!). I thanked Sammy and we parted ways.
That experience is one I will never forget! I have been listening to Sammy/Van Halen since I was 7yrs old (thanks for getting me hooked dad) and I'm 30 now. I have always been a huge fan of Sammy/Van Halen in his group(s) and solo career and just couldn't believe I was fortunate enough to meet Sammy today. Sammy was very cool and very gratious even in a time of stress and hurry for him. I was and still am in a state of complete euphoria and as giddy as a school girl! . I could only describe my feelings and experience by two of my favorite songs There's only one way to rock and Top of the World .
Sammy if you are out there I just wanted to let you know you made my day!
